Thanks for finding me. This is Jean, or Miaomiao as what my parents and friends call me. I spent the first 15 years of my life in Beijing, playing ping pong, reading manga, and being afraid of birds. Then I spent the next 17 years in California and Brooklyn, eventually making films, drawing, writing, and reading more manga, still afraid of birds.

I directed my first documentary I Don't Remember That I Dreamed since I was in school, from 2015 to 2020. It premiered in 2022 at Ethnocineca Documentary Festival. I was selected to participate in Creators Lab with Apichatpong Weerasethakul in 2023. I was also a National Finalist of 2024 BlueCat Screenplay Competition and a 2024 Brooklyn Arts Fund Grantee. My narrative debut Eight Walls Two Doors is currently in post production.

By day, I'm an Art Director at Brand Innovation Lab. I have worked on some fun projects with Airbnb, Nike, Warner Bros., Marvel, Marie Claire, Condé Nast Traveler, Gillette, Downy, QuickBooks, Allstate, Santander, California Almonds, Book of the Month, VICE China, News Weekly, Brooklyn Review and more.
